[ Why couldn't his natural state of emotions wash him down in a refreshing, chilly wind?
This weather was so hot.
Nevertheless, Red was determined to keep busy at all times since joining the collection of those who had mysteriously ended up on the floating island of Empthatieas. There was work, where though living accommodations was a free roof over his head (and he was very grateful for that! even if it was strange sleeping inside so much...), food still had to be brought in for him plus...five-ish. Empatheias's flora was still a new discovery he was taking time out to go and search for and to cut corners, but business inside the city he'd taken up kept him bound to the man-made architecture than free landscapes outside of Verens. A shame -- as if Red had time to think about that.
It might be a good idea to use the time after relocating a tower creature from point A to point B of the Wildlife Society visiting the library again to try and get through that Inoman report (he's trying, okay), but for now, here he comes with his jacket off and his usual yellow bag over his shoulders, and a small carrier bag in his hands, blowing up his face at his own created heat (of passionate accomplishments!), with only an added glow to come when his eyes rest upon -- ]
Hey, White!
[ Hey hey!! Have a wave as soon as you look his way!! Also, where did his personal air conditioner go??
Up White's back to give her a chill, a playful haunting whisper close to her ear -- and her hair standing up straight before it flops over on a certain somebody's head with a slight weight on White's. Hi, gurlfriend. ]
[White shivers at the sudden chill, laughing when Gengar appears on her head. Sup, gurl. Enjoying your hair?]
What're you two up to? You look busy for a kid and his prankster friend.
[Between the carrier and how they've been pretty much smoothing the city's streets down with their constant movement. It's been fun to watch. Almost makes her wish she was a little busier, too, but hanging out in trees kind of reminds her of her childhood.]
It shouldn't be hard to get a toy out of a tree. Gengar could do it all by herself. [ Red muses aloud, eyes on the drawing and then back on the path of the street. He's sure he can spot the tree from where they are, directly head in the distance. ] But he might just steal it back if we take it silently...
[ They come from Mari's residence, equipped with one (1) hand drawn picture of the captured Captain Snuffles and his wagon, with his name in written in big letters and his and Mari's life history together. And about how much she misses him and please please get him back!! Please!!
Which, how could they say no to such distress as that? They couldn't. Absolutely not. Their separation had gone on for long enough. ]
[Exactly. White doesn't particularly have a strong brand of justice - that's more of Black's altruistic nature - but she was the champion of her brother once upon a time, it seems only right to help out a little girl who had lost such an important friend to her because of some bully.]
It'd be wrong to threaten a kid, right? [She's abuzz with energy from the tournament, speaking a little faster than normal and seeming a little on edge.] But then he wouldn't take it again if we did. Probably. It'd serve him right too!
[No, don't threaten the kid. Tell her no. There must be another way.]
[ Around 10 in the evening, Sonic lightly raps on the window by White's bed checking if she's in. He's pulling on his face to give his best Leo impression. On him is a note written in Leo's neat writing: ]
Hi White,
Are you going to bed soon? Do you want to meet me at the beach in half an hour? Dress warm.
If you're not up for it, send a message with Sonic back.
[Leo really has such cute handwriting. It's also pretty cute he sent Sonic - who she'll let in and onto her shoulder, leaning against the window with a glance at her closet. Warm clothes...]
He could've just come by himself and asked, you know? He's stupid. I'll tell him that when I see him.
[Because she's absolutely going. Sleep still doesn't come to her as easy as she likes-- and when it does, it doesn't feel like it. The beach sounds nice, too. If romantic. Which is just a passing thought, nothing she'll dwell on. No stamina for that.]
And you can tell him that I'll be there. [White pets her little friend's head.] Thanks for the speedy delivery, Sonic. You're the best monkey ever.
[ Red didn't know who was down there in the city, but there were a few checks he wanted to make, and make them while the activity around the Tree of Memories was anything but rowdy. Whenever that would happen eventually again, which seemed to come and go even with the police turning people away.
It ate at his nerves, but he kept that forced down before sending out the few calls through the amulet--one of which included to White. And, when she accepts: ]
Hi, White? It's Red. Are you in Shaarnath? I haven't seen you around.
19th is when they get back so i think like 16th???
Yeah, I am. It's amazing here! A whole city that's protected by Thras... It's like the island, but down below. I wonder what else is out here. Though apparently this is the only refuge that's talked about in the books.
[According to Black, who naturally went right for the library to get a grasp on the situation at hand. The emotion magic is something that's interesting too, even if she hasn't had much luck with it so far.]
Are things okay on your end? I've been so overwhelmed by everything here I haven't thought about everyone who was left behind.
[ Bouquet in hand, Leo has possibly spent a good 5 minutes at the door of Black and White's apartment second guessing himself. Any other time he wouldn't have a problem just knocking, asking White out (as friends) and spending the day together. The moment you bring flowers into the mix, it becomes something else. He has half the mind to just toss the flowers, and show up empty handed continuing their ever growing confusing-is-this-more friendship. ]
I don't have a good feeling about this.
[ He mumbles under his breath, and turns to leave. Not a minute passes before he's (speed)walking back towards their door and bangs on it with his fist. Well, now he's done it, time to bite the bullet. ]
[ Well, it's weird to have a visitor. Black has half a mind to just ignore it, (judging by their banging it might just be a poor sap pulled into free advertising), but White gives him A Look.
So he answers the door, looks between Leo and the flowers, and laughs. ]
I'm flattered, Leo, but I just don't feel the same way. [ ...twins are all the same don't let anyone tell you otherwise, they're just as mean. Softer: ] Are those for White?
[ The last time Leo and White have spoken, he had left it on pretty bad terms: he had lost his temper at her and walked off. After he had some time alone to recollect (it didn't take that long. If there's one thing Leo is good at, it's regretting his actions), he realized he may have behaved like a big tantrum throwing jerk. Even if he thought she was being unreasonable, even if he was only coming out of a place of concern -- No, Leonardo, you're not doing this again. He hadn't even asked how she was feeling or whether there was anything he help with while she recovered.
Basically he acted like a big tantrum throwing jerk. Michella would certainly tell him that he has no idea how to talk to women and he'd be inclined to agree.
Eager to patch things up with her (the sooner the better), Leo is once again standing outside White's door with a bouquet of yellow primroses. He thought it was difficult the first time, but the second time around, he feels like a secret boss was sprung on him. After taking a deep breath to strengthen his resolve, he knocks on her door. Only this time he won't mind if Black answered it; at least he can be relatively sure Black won't respond by slamming the door in his face. Or at least he thinks so; depends on how much White has told her brother that 'Leonardo Watch had wronged me.' He hopes someone answers the door soon before he does any more rundowns of how bad things can get in his mind. ]
[No, it's just White this time, looking more than a little tired at the hectic events of the day. She yawns, blinking at Leo, and smiles a little when she sees the bouquet.]
What's this for? I thought you said you wouldn't be my flower deliverer.
[And primroses at that. It warms her and the effect flourishes outward as things seem a tad brighter, more vibrant.]
[ It's been a little over a week since White won the approval of her peers. Her and Black had gone out to dinner, had their little celebrations...
but he hadn't really had a chance to do anything to congratulate her. It's largely the reason why he knocks gently on her bedroom door, knowing she's in, and peeking in with a smile that's much too wide to actually be her brother's. ]
Congratulations on the win, sis. I bought you flowers. [ Thirty red roses, to be exact. There's no special meaning to them, not in the way that the ones that spring up with this body's unexpected bouts of feelings.] Mind if I step in for a bit?
[ ...it doesn't really matter if she doesn't want him to or not, he's going to. ]
[White would've lit up if it wasn't the combination of everything, and more than ever she hates the display her emotions put on as the air becomes heavier and there's shadows that creep across her place on the bed. She sits up, eyes narrowed at the roses and then at him.]
[...White and Silver are dating now! ...And he's tried to get her for dates. And she's tried to get him for dates!
But both of them have jobs and obligations, and it's hard to catch each other. Of course, that's no reason to give up. In fact, Silver's doing some of that not giving up right now.]
Not really. I'm working the front desk at FeelGood's. I think I might need to look into some part-timers or something, because it really is harder to manage now that Akira's gone.
[... She needs to keep up with his contacts, she needs to learn to do financing, she needs to learn a whole lot more now that she's a business owner and... man, there is just no time.]
I think I need to give this place a good clean too? It's kind of slow right now, so I guess I could... But I still need to reorganize the files too, and I have people to get in touch with, and... a lot of things. Sorry, Silver.
[ ...it's weird, waking up in a place you'd forgotten about for the last couple of weeks.
Granted, he... he doesn't really remember anything about the last couple of weeks, either. He remembers the King of Despair taking over, he remembers being vaguely aware of what he'd been put through, he remembers... waking up better, White laying against him.

How warm she'd been, glowing in his arms, how everything had looked covered in golden cracks as the barrier had begun to fix itself using the last of White's will...
He hadn't gotten to complete it, but it'd been almost over anyway, hadn't it? Black stares at his hands, then ignores his body's protests at his getting up. He's so sore, and he's so tired, and there's a little blood here and there, but he's mostly mussed up and dirty. It's such chore to drag himself out of bed, even as he pauses momentarily to stare at a nearly-filled crystal at his bedside. He picks it up, twisting the paracord bracelet, then slips it back on his wrist and carefully makes his way downstairs.
It's early, he notes by the clock ticking heavily in the hall. He rests against the stair's railing, frowning slightly, then—

White? [ And then, over the crystal, too, even if he's not consciously focusing on that— ] Mary?
[ Don't be gone. Please. He resolved himself to lose you, to pretend you'd always be there even when you weren't, but he's still not ready to do that.
Not with the possibility of you being here fine and dandy instead. ]

[Benny runs full force at the sound of his voice -- hope you missed your dog, Black, because she sure as hell missed you -- but White's second in reacting, over the crystal with a rush of surprise and relief and--]
William!
[She's not in the kitchen -- she'd finished eating for herself, she'd fed Socks and Benny as habit dictated -- but it's obvious where she is when vines start to grow on a window to their garden and she's fussing with the door back in, wondering when it'd gotten so hard to open with shaking hands.]
William, you-- You're okay! You idiot! Where have you been, why didn't you take your crystal--
[After he's done doing pointlessly dangerous skydiving with Ryuunosuke and Honchkrow, he... should probably go talk to White. Now's a great time to talk to White, in fact, because he's an absolute mess of appreciation and excitement, which is entirely too evident when he knocks on White's door and those gracideas start poking out of the damn floorboards.
It is so aggressively warm by your front door, White. Open it?]
[... God, she knows exactly who's out there, and she leans against the door instead of opening it for a moment.]
You need to learn to control your flowers, Silver. They're going to ruin my house.
[Not that she minds, really, since they're... deflating is a good word for it, actually. They're deflating. White inhales softly and steps back from the warmth, opening the door slowly and unable to stop her small smile at the sight of him. It might be the time to walk and talk, but his warmth really is something she enjoys to a selfish extent, and she'll hold out her hand.]
How's your shoulder, by the way? I'm not deflecting the conversation this time -- I really do want to know.
[SO THINGS SUCK. DOWN WITH THE MONTH OF DUA. HE'S DONE WITH IT.
He'd really rather not be doing anything except discussing his woes with his fish and making things up to Emil, but sleeping without your favorite blanket and pillows is awful and if there's something he can do to alleviate the bad feelings he's got going on, he might as well try it. Plus he already went over everything with Täplä and wow, is he a bad conversationalist. No help at all.
So anyway, sometime after White's visit to Emil but before he gets home from work, Lalli hits White up for a retrieval. Scratch scratch, let him in.]
[That is a scratching at her door. She stares at Socks for a few seconds, the cat staring back at her, before she sets down her book and shoos him off to her room. Lalli didn't seem particularly favorable towards them, after all.
Opening the door!! Hello Lalli, you're welcome to come in, Benny is going to sniff you up and ask for pets but your bedding is on the couch all ready to go--.]
Do you mind if I ask why Syr needed me to hold onto these for you?
[Guess who is a little bit of a lying liar who lies and waits a few days before giving White a gentle knock on her mental door? This guy. To be fair, though, he was going to drop into work the other day and got distracted by the intense need to hide from a daycare child, so. You know. He sort of tried.]
[You know, Silver comes in to say hi to White at work pretty often. He has to squeeze in time with her somehow, and while she's at work just happens to work out. He usually doesn't show up with a basket, however, much less a basket full of... Bags? Those are certainly bags, and Silver's handling the entire thing extremely delicately. ...Of course, that doesn't stop him from trying to act cool when he strolls on in and spots White anyway.]
I heard this place is run by some gorgeous and dedicated girl that makes most of this stuff herself. You think I could talk to her?
I'll have to see if she's in the back, because all you're getting right now is an girl who's pulled an all-nighter reading and trying to figure out how these stupid mushrooms... do their thing. I feel like dying.
[But she's grinning anyway, even while she's staring at baskets of various kinds of them in front of her. It's nice and toasty compared to outside too. White really love sit when Silver comes to visit... even if he sure does have a basket full of bags right now, um.]

Opening the door!! Hello Lalli, you're welcome to come in, Benny is going to sniff you up and ask for pets but your bedding is on the couch all ready to go--.]
Do you mind if I ask why Syr needed me to hold onto these for you?
[Not that she minded, obviously.]

11/24, action
I heard this place is run by some gorgeous and dedicated girl that makes most of this stuff herself. You think I could talk to her?
no subject
[But she's grinning anyway, even while she's staring at baskets of various kinds of them in front of her. It's nice and toasty compared to outside too. White really love sit when Silver comes to visit... even if he sure does have a basket full of bags right now, um.]
What do you have there?

Hey White, are you free today? There's something I'd like you to see.
no subject
Um, sure. [Does she ask.] I can free myself, I mean, I'm not really doing anything important right now. What is it?
